This piece was created in July 2009. It was just after Supanova and I'm pretty sure everyone who went to the convention got some form of flu. My friends, my sister and I were among the casualties. We were convinced we'd gotten Swine Flu from Chris Sabat.
I was bedridden for 2 weeks and at one point Mum was going to take me to hospital. I mean, really, really sick, mate.
'Oh. I have to make a piece for the Central TAFE Art Auction', I muttered, inbetween feverish nightmares. And I began to draw.
And here it is. It's now owned by a lady who was actually a fellow classmate of mine during Art School days. That's a bit of a comfort. I told her afterwards that I was dreadfully sick at the time of making it, and she said she could tell. I hadn't noticed until then that the character in the piece also had the flu. Or maybe it is the flu? A germ? I dunno. What do you think?
