OP - luffy and yuba barrel by Veleven OP - luffy and yuba barrel by Veleven
Really hot and tired after the first day of Wai-Con 2011.. nothing some good ol' Yuba water can't fix.

The Yuba Barrel was originally an el cheapo version of a Barrel of Monkeys from Red Dot... but it's been textured, painted, drilled and rope-d. I love my Yuba Barrel.

Monkey D. Luffy - me (*Veleven)

Awesome cosplay! It's funny cuz I've been thinking about doing Alabasta Luffy cosplay for Detour. Where did you get the materials? More importantly, how did you make the barrel look so awesome?

Cheers! (: By materials I'm guessing you mean the cloak and head/hat wrap thing? The fabric was from my local Spotlight ([link]). I then did alot of sewing and stuff... it wasn't easy, but I'm glad for the experience. I also made our Zoro's cloak and headpiece.
As for the barrel, I got an El Cheapo version of Barrel of Monkeys from my local Red Dot (cheap store.. the 'monkeys' looked more like those things out of Wizard of Oz). I painted it with paint mixed with modelling compound. The stressed look of the barrel involved a bit of painting technique so good luck!
I used a drill for the straw hole and rope holes (now *that* was scary!).Finally, the rope was also a buy from Spotlight, but again I painted and modelling compound-ed it.
Hope that makes sense!! Goodluck with your cosplay! Post a link to some photos when you're done! :D

Really? My eye colour? Well, thankyou very much.. no one's ever commented on my eye colour before.
My eyes are hazel/brown.

Well it is probably also the reflection of the camera that brings out your eyes so much here. On my screen it gives it a bit of a greenish color

Well, I also put a slight orange filter on the photo, so that may have also made it a bit different.. although I would've thought that would've dulled the green. Well, I think my monitor is quite bright, so I don't ever realise what my pictures look like to other people. I should remember that!..
