Me as Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece (Arabasta Arc)

This photo pretty much sums up the weekend! I was dying from almost-40 degree heat and sweating like crazy.. it was really bad! But like I've said before, it was very authentic for our Arabasta theme.

I spent most of the Saturday with my tongue hanging out and making those 'haaaaaaaaa' sounds...

Still so impressed how well you do Luffy's impressions!! : D I haven't seen anyone doing it as good as you or your sister yet! And I really do value the impression-part of cosplaying. (:

I've got just one question: Where did you find/How did you make those sandals?? I'm looking for such kind of sandals for weeks already! But without success.... I've no idea where to find them nor do I know what kind of material they're made of so I could make them myself... ):
I thought that maybe you could help me out, because I'm beginning to despair...

Thanks so much mate! (:

Well, since the Arabasta cosplay I have made a new pair of sandals (probably need to make another pair though.. they're starting to fall apart!), but the process was basically the same. I found a pair of thongs (no, not the item of scanty lingerie - these : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip-flo…  -  we call them thongs here in Aus!) and sewed on  the third strap myself. I then covered the shoes with material and painted them. :) So they aren't even real sandals like Luffy's! I think other people try to buy ones that are actually 'Luffy's sandals' online, but they're just not the same. Same goes for buying a licensed One Piece Straw-hat. They're all identical and anyone could wear one.. it's much better to make your own. :)

Your costume is sooo great:D but the barrel is the best, it was probably empty after 15 minutes cause of the heat ;P

It was always empty! I should've put water into it, but I was worried I'd make a big mess of it since I was jumping around everywhere. :P

If it was so hot, it would be empty really fast, and you wouldn't make a big mess :)

Well, the truth is that the barrel still had bits of plastic from when I drilled holes in it... and any time I accidentally sucked through the straw, I choked on it!

.. I suppose I could've washed it out... ^^;

Yeah, I glued material over thongs, painted and textured it, then stitched on a third strap. :)
Thanks!
